Book Release on European Union as a Power and China-Europe Relations: Perceptions, Policies and Prospects

 

On February 4 2010, co-hosted by the Institute of European Studies(IES)of CASS, the EU Delegation to China and the Social Sciences Academic Press (China), a book release on European Union as a Power and China-Europe Relations: Perceptions, Policies and Prospects was held at the Galileo Hall of the EU Delegation. The book release was chaired by Mr. Alexander McLachlan, the Political Counsellor of the EU Delegation. Mr. Xie Shouguang, President of the Social Sciences Academic Press (China) gave an introduction of the publication ideas, current situation and plans of his Press.

Prof. David Shambaugh, Director of China Policy Programme of George Washington University, Senior Fellow of Foreign Policy at Brookings Institute and one of the editors-in--chief of China-Europe Relations: Perceptions, Policies and Prospects, and Prof. Zhou Hong, Director of the IES of CASS and editor-in-chief of European Union as a Power delivered keynote speeches on the contents of the two books respectively. Around 80 participants, namely Chinese experts and scholars on international studies and especially on European studies, and officials from the EU Delegation and from the embassies of some of the European countries to China attended the Release and made discussions on related issues. Journalists from the media like the People’s Daily, the Xinhua News Agency, the Guangming Daily, and the Global Times made reports on the book release.
