The Political Counsellor of the Finland Embassy in China, Tapio Rantanen, and Second Secretary Jani Mustonen visited the Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on October 13, 2021. Feng Zhongping, the Director of the Institute of European Studies, attended the meeting accompanied by Liu Zuokui, the Deputy Director of the Institute of European Studies. 

The two sides exchanged views on several topics such as the China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, EU strategies towards China, the German election, and China-EU relations. Tapio Rantanen introduced the economic and trade cooperation between China and Finland, and the potential cooperation areas in the future. Director Feng Zhongping focused on EU strategies towards China, and the current situation and prospects of China-EU relations. The two sides also exchanged views on further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Finnish think tanks.
