ZHOU Hong: China’s Foreign Aid: Tradition and Change
On 15 October 2021, the China-CEE Institute invited Prof. ZHOU Hong, Director General of the Academic Division of International Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, to deliver a lecture entitled “China’s Foreign Aid: Tradition and Change”. The Institute’s non-resident researchers and researchers from partner institutions participated in the lecture.
Prof. ZHOU covered several important aspects of China’s foreign aid, including the uniqueness of China as a provider of international development cooperation, China’s main partners, the history and main features of the country’s foreign aid, and particularly the new changes in this policy domain.
The lecture lasted about one hour in total. During the Q & A session, the participants posed several questions about the economic motive behind China’s foreign aid, the characteristics of China’s foreign aid, China’s foreign aid supervision and evaluation, China’s cooperation with universities in Africa, Asia-pacific countries and South-America, etc.
