Almanac of European Studies in China

The Almanac of European Studies in China is an academic reference publication jointly organized by the Institute of European Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Association for European Studies. It systematically compiles the annual research progress and disciplinary developments in European studies in China. This includes introductions to monographs, academic papers, and research reports, as well as information on relevant academic institutions, disciplinary status, talent cultivation, and scholarly activities. The compilation aims to comprehensively and systematically record and showcase outstanding academic achievements in the field, promote intellectual exchange within its academic community, facilitate the dissemination of scholarly insights, and contribute to the field's prosperity and development.

This almanac employs a classified editing method, with sections as the main categories, which are further divided into subsections and entries. The setup of the sections remains relatively stable but may be slightly adjusted based on the characteristics of the year. The current volume consists of five sections: Disciplinary Overview, Selected Academic Papers, Selected New Books, Introduction to Academic Institutions, and Academic Developments.

Entries constitute the fundamental units of expression, employing either an expository or discursive style. Sections such as Selected Academic Papers, Selected New Books, Introduction to Academic Institutions, and Academic Developments focus on describing and introducing their respective content. The Disciplinary Overview section, however, emphasizes academic commentary on the topics discussed. The language across all entries strives for objectivity and clarity.

The selection of entries follows these principles:

The Disciplinary Overview is prepared by a writing team organized by the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, incorporating broad input from the academic community.

Selected Academic Papers and Selected New Books are chosen through a combination of recommendations from institutional members of the Chinese Association for European Studies, self-recommendations by peers in the field, and selections made by the Association.

Content for Introduction to Academic Institutions and Academic Developments is provided by the Association's institutional members.

Academic institutions are listed in the order of the phonetic alphabet of their respective provinces or municipalities. Institutions within the same region are arranged chronologically according to their establishment dates.
