IES Scholars to Study EU’s Low-Carbon Economic Policy (Xue Yanping)
China has made its determination to adjust its development model. The EU is a pioneer in developing the low-carbon economy. In order to learn from what has been achieved in the EU and what will be undertaken there, Prof. Xue Yanping has organized a research team to work on a project titled EU’s Low-Carbon Economic Policy.
On January 11th, 2011, the team members of the project held their first seminar. They discussed such issues as definition of low-carbon economy, the EU’s climate policy and governance mechanism, its emerging strategy to address climate change, and possibilities of co-operation between China and European countries.
Apart from theoretical analysis and background information, the project will also study how the EU members develop their low-carbon economy.
This project is designated as the “Most Important Research Project at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences”. Its outcome will be a book edited by Prof. Xue Yanping. It is expected to be completed by 2013.
