"China, Europe, U.S Trialogue"
On December 3, 2010, the first “ China , Europe, U.S Trialogue" took place in the Party chool of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Beijing . More than 150 scholars and officials from China , Europe and the United States attended the forum on the themes of global governance, post-economic crisis challenges, sustainable development and international security.
The organizers of the trilogue were the Party School , the Aspen Institute (Italia) and The Aspen Institute ( U.S.A. ). Present at the meeting were Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giulio Tremonti, Harvard University 's Joseph Nye, former U.S. Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns and Chancellor of Oxford University Chris Patten.
The Chinese scholars seemed to agree with the European and American participants on many issues, but disagreed that China should undertake more responsibility beyond its development level. Some Chinese scholars also explained to their European and American counterparts that raising the value of the Renminbi would not solve the economic problems of the U.S.
Prof. Jiang Shixue, Deputy Director of IES, attended this meeting.
